Glenn Hall serves as President of the Board for STAR Initiatives, bringing more than 25 years of dedicated service with the Town of Hempstead. His extensive experience in public service has equipped him with a strong understanding of community needs, leadership, and effective engagement across diverse populations.
A committed mentor and community advocate, Glenn is passionate about investing in the growth and development of young people. He is known for his steady leadership, integrity, and ability to lead with both structure and compassion. As Board President, Glenn plays a key role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction and strengthening its impact, helping to ensure that STAR Initiatives continues to deliver meaningful programs that empower youth, build resilience, and create pathways for long-term success. 

Corey Pegues

Corey Pegues, a Queens native, retired NYPD Executive, and dedicated community advocate, serves as the Vice President of the Board for STAR Initiatives. With a distinguished career spanning law enforcement, public safety, media analysis, and youth empowerment, Corey plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic vision of STAR Initiatives and ensuring its programs create lasting change. As a retired Deputy Inspector of the NYPD, Corey brings invaluable leadership experience in violence prevention, crisis intervention, and community resilience. His journey—from a troubled youth in Queens to a respected law enforcement leader—has fueled his passion for empowering underserved communities. He understands firsthand the importance of early intervention, mentorship, and holistic development, making him a powerful advocate for STAR’s mission. Beyond law enforcement, Corey is a Court TV analyst, providing expert insight on criminal justice, policing, and public safety. He is also an author, motivational speaker, and thought leader in youth empowerment, dedicating his post-policing career to violence prevention initiatives, mentorship programs, and advocacy work aimed at breaking cycles of poverty and crime. As Vice President of the Board, Corey is committed to expanding STAR Initiatives’ reach, forging strategic partnerships, and driving initiatives that equip youth with the tools, mindset, and opportunities needed to build brighter futures. His leadership ensures that STAR remains at the forefront of holistic youth development and community transformation.

Chima Oparah serves as Secretary of the Board for STAR Initiatives, bringing over 20 years of experience with the Board of Education. Her career reflects a strong commitment to education, structure, and creating environments where individuals at all stages can grow and thrive.
As Board Secretary, Chima plays a key role in maintaining organizational alignment, ensuring effective communication, and supporting sound governance practices. She is passionate about holistic development and values the role of education, mentorship, and professional development in shaping confident, capable individuals. Through her leadership, Chima supports STAR Initiatives in delivering impactful workshops and programs that build essential life skills, strengthen personal and professional growth, and uplift the broader community.

John Wallace

Board Treasurer

John Wallace brings an illustrious basketball legacy and a heart dedicated to community service to his role as Board Treasurer for S.T.A.R. Initiatives. A standout player at Syracuse University from 1992 to 1996, John's exceptional talent led him to be drafted by the New York Knicks in 1996, where he played seven seasons in the NBA. However, his contributions to our community stretch far beyond the basketball court. For over 13 years, John has been a steadfast advocate for change and growth as a member of the New York Knicks organization. His multifaceted involvement includes community engagement, hosting TV and radio shows, and partnering with organizations that uplift our youth. One such organization close to John's heart is the Heavenly Productions Foundation, where he serves on the board. Through this nonprofit, John passionately supports providing backpacks and essential supplies to children in underserved neighborhoods, helping to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed. John's influence doesn't stop there. He has directly impacted the lives of over 200,000 children through camps, clinics, and mentoring programs. His commitment to education, empowerment, and holistic youth development aligns seamlessly with the core values of S.T.A.R. Initiatives. As Board Treasurer, John Wallace leads our organization with an unwavering dedication to fostering positive change in our communities. His experience, both on and off the court, makes him an invaluable asset, and his heart for the youth drives our mission forward. In his role as Board Treasurer, John continues to embody the spirit of leadership, community, and mentorship. His presence amplifies our mission to empower youth and create a brighter future.
